“Cumucore started the work on Time Sensitive Networks already in 2020 when this first patent application was submitted that finally was granted after 6 years. The patent is essential to distribute time synchronization information over mobile networks. It states the following: “industrial network is required to cater real-time (namely, time-sensitive or isochronous) needs of transmission of data across the multitude of industrial devices in the industrial environment … and delivering timing information comprises synchronizing an internal clock of the first wireless device, an internal clock of the at an industrial device”. The patent also includes the usage of network slicing e.g. URLLC and multiple links to guarantee the delivery time synchronization between mobile and fixed industrial devices” according to José Costa-Requena, CEO of Cumucore.
Besides, José Costa-Requena confirm: “This solution is applicable to private industrial networks to ensure the time synchronization over mobile networks and provide the future autonomous factories”.
